Oh, how I love this family! I was so excited when I learned they’d be “home” for the summer, before heading off for their next adventure in the fall. We met up at Discovery Park, and they even brought along their brand new puppy!

Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success (now Why Helping Others Drives Our Success), Adam Grant
This is one of the best books I’ve read recently, and certainly goes in my top 5 or 10 nonfiction books of all time. (I used post-it notes to mark up this library book for days!) Part of that lies in the originality of the topic (at least to me). While we all know that successful people are motivated, talented, and maximize opportunities, Grant believes there is a fourth component to success: ‘reciprocity style.’

This girl and her papa. We had so much fun playing in the cherry blossoms this spring! My favorite thing about these photos is that they truly capture the special bond these two share. The joy and love that infuses their every moment together.

It’s gotten almost comical, really. Each year, I wait to see how my best-laid birthday plans will go awry. This year is turning out pretty good! That is, in terms of upended plans. :) I’m visiting dear friends in Nashville, and had planned a fun day of solo sightseeing, while my friends’ jobs held them captive. Breakfast, local landmarks, lunch and boot shopping (!!) with my friend who was going to be able to steal away from work for a couple of hours.

Photos make the best gifts, don’t they? If you don’t believe me, just ask these cuties’ grandparents! Ever since they were born, mom and dad have made documenting the twins’ stories one of their top priorities.

How did it get to be May already?! Spring is in full swing, and in the Northwest that means more consistent weather for outdoor photo sessions! If you’ve known me for any length of time, you know that turquoise is my color. And, it just happens to be one of those colors that looks equally good on boys or girls. Okay, if I’m being honest, it might look even better on boys… Here are some of my faves for spring!

I love to read. Like LOVE it. That won’t be hard to believe when I tell you I read five books in April. And I’m already partway through three others. All this to say, I read a lot. And not in the speed-reading way. In the read-some-paragraphs-twice, highlight-my-favorite-passages sort of way.
Read moreLITTLE C + GRANDMA - AT HOME SESSION
What a special session Little C’s mom and dad imagined! Little C’s great-grandma was visiting from out of town, and it was the perfect opportunity to invite her to play in his brand new room. Great-grandma is pretty good at reading, but she needed an introduction to Curious George. And, she’s pretty good at soothing tears, too. What sweet, sweet moments these two shared together.

I love gift giving. There’s nothing quite like finding the perfect gift for someone, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. For most of us, I think thoughtfulness really trumps price. When the purchase of the gift benefits someone in addition to the recipient? It doesn’t get any better.

It seems that everyone in Seattle patiently follows “bloom watch,” and arrives at the University of Washington at the exact moment the cherry blossoms hit full bloom! It’s especially crazy when those full-bloom days fall on the weekend, as they did this year. To beat the crowds, Momma, Miss B, and I arrived on campus just after sunrise.
