I think Carkeek Park is one of Seattle's hidden gems. Of course, those who live in the Greenwood area are well acquainted with this special place, but the rest of us have a lot to gain by making a trip there. With lots of paths (and a playground!) to explore, and direct access to the beach and the Sound, it's hard to find a park with more to offer. The G family knows Carkeek well, and we had such a fun morning playing together at the park. My favorite moments occurred at the beach, including a whole family rock-skipping party. And, we captured perhaps one of the most authentic family portraits ever -- mom and dad nicely posed and looking at the camera, while the little ones run off in search of more rocks!
